The 3 Main Tree Trimming Tools You Should Have

Blog

There are countless benefits of planting trees around your home and in your tree garden. With the many benefits trees carry, it is only fair to give them the care and attention they need to grow healthy and productively. One of the effective ways to do so is through trimming.

Tree trimming is an effective way of shaping up your tree to grow in the desired direction and maintain good health. However, tree trimming isn't an easy maintenance procedure to undertake. Sometimes it even gets risky, but you can have a smooth tree-trimming process with the right tools. Here are the three main tools you should have when trimming your trees.

Pruning Shears

Pruning shears are smaller in size to fit in the palm of your hand to make it easier to use them for trimming smaller tree branches, fences, and tree seedlings that are growing in an unwanted direction. They are the easiest to use as they can easily fit into your hands for easy and perfect maneuvers.

The two main types of pruning shears are the anvil and bypass shears. The most commonly used pruning shear of these two is the bypass shear, which has two cutting sides like those of a scissor. On the other hand, the anvil shear has one cutting side with an opposite flat side and cuts like a knife on a chopping board.

A Chainsaw or Handsaw

Using a pruning shear can limit you to smaller trees and smaller tree branches in huge trees. For serious and more demanding tree trimming, you'll need a bigger, better tool like a chainsaw or a handsaw. These tools make it easier and safer to handle major pruning projects that smaller tools can't work on.

A handsaw will help trim mid-sized branches that can easily go down because the sawing is done by hand. For larger tree branches, it is best if you used a chainsaw, which will save you a lot of time and energy.

Stepladders and Ladders

Trimming trees can become even more challenging if the branches you intend to bring down are high up on the tree. For mid-high range branches that you can't easily reach while standing on the ground, a stepladder can be the best tool to use for easy access.

If you're seeking to prune branches that are high into the tree, you'll need a taller ladder like an orchard ladder for easier access into the branches. These orchard ladders have tripod stands which make them much safer than typical ladders.
